Trama
Partito praticamente da zero Kai Skraug è divenuto un armatore di Oslo rispettatato e ricco, vedovo e senza figli. Alla sua morte e alla lettura del suo testamento assistono la famiglia di suo fratello Jon (com la moglie Marta ed i figli Eva, Jonas e Anna) oltre ad altri congiunti. Ad alcuni di loro Kai ha lasciato la parte più sostanziosa della sua eredità. Ma quando gli eredi cominciano a vagare nella casa di Kai per dividere le sue ricchezze emergono cupidigie, egoismi, sotterfugi e rancori. Ancor peggio accade quando Jon (che ha avuto in lascito la flotta) dichiara di non voler accettare l’eredità perché lo renderebbe moralmente schiavo di un fratello che non ha amato.
