Trama
Un bimbo figiano, abbandonato nei campi, viene raccolto da un missionario Marista e affidato alle suore. Egli cresce e viene educato dalle buone Madri fino a che, raggiunta l’età conveniente, entra nella scuola superiore di Ovalau. Fattosi grande si reca presso un villaggio per lavorare e si innamora di una fanciulla figiana. Il padre di costei, però, gliela rifiuta in sposa. Il giovane non sa affrontare la disillusione e si abbandona al bere e ai vizi. La lebbra lo colpisce ed egli, ritornato allora dai Padri Maristi, viene da costoro internato nel lebbrosario di Macongai. Il signore, però, accoglie le sue fervide preghiere e lo guarisce. Egli può tornare presso i suoi e sposare finalmente la sua fedele Litia. Per gratitudine verso Dio e verso i buoni Padri Missionari decide di diventare catechista.
