Trama
Billy, figlio di Janine Whit assistente presso un laboratorio della Nato, possiede un bel cane pastore irlandese di nome Digby. Presso lo stesso laboratorio chimico lavora uno scienziato svagato e combinaguai, Jeffrey Eldom, che un giorno porta a casa propria un pizzico di polverina sperimentale che avrebbe la capacità di ingigantire velocissimamente i vegetali. Il materiale sottratto sarebbe destinato alle rose del giardino di Jeff ma, per puro caso, viene dato in pasto a Digby che ingigantisce. Mentre si cerca di ricorrere ai ripari, il cucciolo viene venduto dai lestofanti Thomas e Gerald al circo di Jimmy Rogerson ove viene presentato al pubblico come “Tobia il cane più grande del mondo”. Ma la folla si spaventa e la Nato assedia la povera bestia che verrebbe sterminata dall’esercito schierato se Janine e Jeff non offrissero in tempo l’antidoto. Nel frattempo, però, anche Clarissa, femmina di scimpanzè, ha sorbito il miracoloso intruglio.
