Trama
Tra la fine del XIV e l’inizio del XV l’Albania viene occupata dai turchi che rendono schiavi tutti i giovani. Giovanni Castiota, discendente da un’illustre famiglia, dopo essersi distinto per il valore, abbandona il sultano, prende il nome di Scanderbeg e si mette a capo di un’insurrezione popolare che si propone di restituire la libertà all’Albania. Dopo aspre battaglie gli insorti vincono ma i principi albanesi temono il successo del condottiero, La sitiazione peggiora quando hazma, nipote di Scanderbeg, tradisce la causa dell’indipendenza e s’allea coi turchi per poter succedere allo zio, ma ancora una volta il condottiero vince i turchi in una sanguinosa battaglia e continuerà a reggere le sorti dell’Albania.
