Trama
Si celebra il processo contro Dominique Marceau, accusata di avere ucciso il fidanzato della sorella, Gilbert Tellier. Molte sono le prove che l’accusano, e contro di lei è la generale prevenzione. Dominique, trasferitasi a Parigi con Annie, si abbandona ad una vita libera ed oziosa, mentre la sorella maggiore, studentessa di musica, stringe affettuosa amicizia con Gilbert, un suo compagno di studi dotato di grandi ambizioni e di eccellenti qualità. Per fare dispetto alla sorella, Dominique civetta con Gilbert e ne diviene ben presto l’amante. Il gioco si trasforma in un sentimento profondo che sembra influenzare positivamente le abitudini della ragazza ma, passati i primi momenti Dominique comincia a diventare un peso per Gilbert, sempre più preso dalla sua ambizione di musicista; si giunge così ad una definita rottura, cui Dominique non si rassegna. Quando apprende che Gilbert ed Annie si sposeranno presto, la ragazza si precipita in casa del suo ex amante, decisa ad uccidersi se egli non tornerà a lei, ma in un impeto di sdegno e di disperazione, Dominique lo uccide. Dinanzi ai giudici la ragazza non si riconosce nel ritratto che di lei fanno il presidente del tribunale e l’avvocato di parte civile. Stanca di cercare la verità in se stessa, alla vigilia della sentenza, Dominique si taglia le vene e muore.
