Trama
Lo psichiatra Marc Lacroix è in crisi con la moglie Marie, che tradisce con Marianne. Il figlioletto Léonard soffre naturalmente della situazione di tensione tra i genitori. Marc è inoltre attirato dalla personalità schizoide di un paziente arrivato nel suo istituto, Michel Zyto, che ha ucciso a coltellate diverse donne. Affascinato dalla psiche di un “mostro”, ed avendo costruito una “macchina” che consente di penetrare nella psiche altrui, convince l’uomo a sottoporsi all’esperimento. Ma la “macchina” scambia alla pari le due personalità. Zyto e Lacroix, tornando in città hanno un incidente, e Michel procura a Marc una commozione cerebrale, facendolo ricoverare nell’istituto. Il killer ha comprensibili difficoltà a recitare la parte del padre, del marito, del medico, e le sue angosce crescono quando lo psichiatra, ripresosi dalla commozione cerebrale, lo informa che ha un tumore all’orecchio che lo ucciderà. Invano lo psichiatra tenta di avvisare la moglie del pericolo presentandosi all’amante Marianne nel nuovo corpo, e dandole le prove di essere Marc. Il killer sequestra lo psichiatra e lo chiude in cantina, per poi prendere Lèonard, e scambiare alla “macchina” il cervello col ragazzo, che in un raptus…
