Trama
All’inizio della storia dell’uomo, ancora poche comunità primitive popolano la terra. Su queste domina incontrastato, circondato da una schiera di mostri guerrieri, il crudele Ocron, uno strano essere dal volto coperto da una maschera e dal corpo di donna, che lascia credere agli uomini di comandare il levare ed il tramontare del sole. Un giorno Ocron sogna che un guerriero arrivato da oltre il mare, armato di un’arma prodigiosa, arriva per ucciderlo. Così è, infatti; da terre lontane arriva nel dominio di Ocron il giovane Ilias, armato di un arco, arma sconosciuta e, quindi, micidiale. Ocron comanda ai suoi soldati di catturare il giovane, ma Ilias riesce a sfuggire a tutte le insidie, anche grazie all’aiuto di Mace, un solitario coraggioso che diviene suo amico. Ocron, sempre più timoroso, evoca il mago cui deve il suo sinistro potere, e gli si promette in cambio della vita di Ilias e della sua arma. Il patto dà i suoi frutti; Ilias, che già aveva ripreso, su consiglio di Mace, la strada di casa, torna indietro per liberare l’amico, ma cade vittima dell’ennesimo tranello, e muore. La sua testa viene consegnata ad Ocron, ma la soddisfazione del mostro durerà ben poco: sarà Mace, con l’arma dell’amico morto, a dare la morte ad Ocron, liberando così la terra dal suo incubo.
