Il viaggio è quello di un originario della Carolina, il cui bisnonno ha creato la famosa marca di tabacco “Bull Durham”. Il film è una meditazione soggettiva e autobiografica sul fascino esercitato dalle sigarette e la problematica “eredità” che costituiscono per il Nord Carolina. È un film sul perdere e sul preservare, sull’assuefarsi e sul rifiutare.
