Trama
Una imbarcazione alla deriva attira l’attenzione del giovane pescatore greco Demetrios. Su di essa è una naufraga, Antilia, principessa della lontanissima e misteriosa terra di Atlantide. Antilia convince Demetrios a riportarla in patria. Giunti nella terra di Atlantide, posta oltre le colonne d’Ercole, la fanciulla può riabbracciare suo padre mentre Demetrios, inviso al potente e perfido consigliere del re, Zarem, viene ridotto in schiavitu’. Antilia s’è a malincuore convinta che il giovane greco sia ripartito, anteponendo la nostalgia per la propria terra all’amore per la fanciulla; ma un giorno scopre che Demetrios è invece incatenato tra gli schiavi di Atlantide. S’adopera allora perché sia affrancato, ed i suoi voti vengono esauditi quando Demetrios acquista il diritto alla libertà superando vittoriosamente la rituale e pericolosa prova dell’acqua e del fuoco. Intanto, violente scosse telluriche preannunciano la fine di Atlantide. Zarem, il quale, animato da una inestinguibile sete di dominio e di potenza, intende soggiogare il mondo, affretta la costruzione di una nuova terribile arma, ma sarà Demetrios ad impedire che il crudele sogno del despota si realizzi. Quando le terre di Atlantide sprofondano per sempre nelle acque dell’Oceano, solo Antilia e Demetrios scamperanno al cataclisma.
