Trama
Elena esce di prigione, dopo avervi scontato una condanna a sei anni. Il suo amante, dal quale ha avuto un figlio, faceva parte di una banda di spacciatori di stupefacenti, Riacquistata la liberà, Elena si mette alla ricerca dell’uomo e del figliolo, ma non trova né l’uno, né l’altro. Dagli antichi compagni dell’amante viene a sapere che questi è stato ucciso, a quanto si dice, in uno scontro, e che il figliolo è sparito. Nella sua disperazione, Elena viene soccorsa da un vecchio vetturino, che vive insieme con un bimbo da lui raccolto. Elena continua le sue ricerche, aiutata da un giornalista, che il vetturino le ha fatto conoscere. Le indagini intraprese portano il giornalista ad occuparsi degli spacciatori di stupefacenti, uno dei quali, innamorato d’Elena, cerca in ogni modo d’opporsi alle sue iniziative. Questi è appunto l’assassino dell’amante d’Elena e colui, che ha abbandonato nella strada il di lei figliolo. Una notte il delinquente fa precipitare da una scarpata la macchina del giornalista, che resta soltanto ferito. Intanto la polizia, valendosi delle notizie precedentemente raccolte, arresta tutta la banda. Il buon vetturino ha ormai la certezza che il bimbo da lui raccolto è precisamente il figlio d’Elena, alla quale egli rivela la verità. Il bimbo avrà così una madre, un nonno e forse, nel giornalista, un nuovo papà.
