Trama
Per pagare debiti di gioco contratti con Ponson Terrail, Lucas è costretto a guidare un carro con un carico di carta da una città all’altra. A Chamaco, ultima tappa del viaggio, Lucas sostituisce il carico di carta con un altro dove è nascosto un sacchetto di fiches, che verranno messe a profitto nel locale saloon assieme a Terrail. Ma all’uscita del saloon i due cadono in un’imboscata ordita da Masters, che controlla tutte le attività illecite della zona. Alle dipendenze di Masters lavora anche un vecchio pittore fallito, ricercato dalla polizia per la sua attività di falsario e a causa sua Lucas e Masters entrano in conflitto. Durante la notte, dopo una violenta sparatoria, Lucas e Terrail hanno il sopravvento su Masters e la sua banda, ma poi Terrail cerca di uccidere il socio. L’intervento di Lazar, un messicano testimone non visto di tutti gli eventi, riporta le cose nella legalità.
