Trama
Jim Knox è uno speculatore senza scrupoli. Quando si viene a sapere che nel paese passerà la nuova ferrovia transcontinentale, cerca di accapparrarsi per pochi soldi i terreni in questione, per poi rivenderli allo Stato ad un prezzo più alto. Thomas Logan, proprietario di alcuni terreni, non è convinto a vendere. Suo figlio Steve, che è un avvocato, si schiera dalla parte di Knox e dei suoi collaboratori. Ma la sua è solo una manovra: vuole ottenere i voti degli operai delle ferrovie alle imminenti elezioni. Jim, affiancato dal Bronson, un giudice corrotto, compie ogni sorta di soprusi.
