Trama
Carlo ha avuto in gioventù una relazione amorosa con una ragazza, Anna, che poi ha abbandonata. Dalla relazione è nato un figlio, del quale Carlo ignora l’esistenza, fino al giorno in cui Anna, morente, fa appello al suo cuore di padre. Carlo promette di vegliare sul figliolo adolescente. Ne segue infatti le tracce e riesce a sapere che suo figlio Mario è uno spacciatore di cocaina. Carlo, che esercita il traffico all’ingrosso si reca da un’intermediaria, una vecchia contessa, e le ordina di non fornire più a Mario la droga. Mario è disperato: un lestofante, amico della contessa, gli propone di derubare quest’ultima, che ha in casa molti denari. Mario dapprima rifiuta, poi acconsente. Una sera s’introduce di soppiatto nell’appartamento della contessa: la mattina dopo si trova la contessa assassinata. Su Mario si appuntano i sospetti della Polizia. Carlo, convinto dell’innocenza del figlio l’induce a costituirsi. Nuovi elementi, emersi durante il processo, permettono d’identificare l’assassino: è il lestofante amico della contessa, che ha teso un tranello infame al giovanotto. Carlo fa imbarcare Mario, prosciolto, su una nave peschereccia, sulla quale potrà rifarsi una vita; ma conscio di essere il vero responsabile dei trascorsi del figlio, non ha il coraggio di rivelarsi a lui come padre.
